CLASS 6 and CLASS 5 GSA Security Containers

There are two types of GSA Security Container classifications: Class 6 and Class 5.

Class 6 GSA Security Containers provide the following required specifications:

-30 man-minutes resistance to covert entry.

-20 man-hours against surreptitious entry.

-No forced entry resistant requirements.

Class 6 GSA Security Containers are used for the secure storage and protection of classified documents. A safe lock (X-07, X-08, X-09) that meets Federal Specification FF-L-2740 must be used on the GSA Security Container when the contents are rated confidential, secret, or top secret material.

Class 5 GSA Security Containers provide the following required specifications:

-30 man-minutes resistance to covert entry.

-20 man-hours against surreptitious entry

-10 man-minutes against forced entry.

Class 5 GSA Security Containers are used for the secure storage of classified documents, electronics, classified equipment, ordnance, weapons, ammunition, evidence, monetary funds, high value items, controlled substances, and classified information processing systems.

A safe lock (X-07, X-08, X-09) that meets Federal Specification FF-L-2740 must be used on the GSA Security Container when the contents are rated confidential, secret, top secret material.

GSA Security Containers can be outfitted with a group 1R rated mechanical safe lock when the following contents consist of: ordnance, weapons, ammunition, evidence, monetary funds, high value items, and controlled substances.
